Scout is in beta. Here's exactly what we keep — in plain English. Last updated 29 June 2026.
What we store
- An anonymous ID in a cookie so we can remember your chat, your 👍/👎, and your saved games. No login, no name, no tracking across other sites.
- Your email — only if you ask us to. If you ask Scout to watch a game (to tell you when it launches or drops in price), or you sign up for our occasional "hidden gems" email, we store your address to send those. We use Resend to store the list and send the emails. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe — for one game or everything — and you can unsubscribe any time. We never sell or share it.
- Your Steam library — only if you connect Steam. We read your public games list and playtime to make better recommendations. We never see or store your Steam password — Steam handles the sign-in.
Anonymous usage
We keep aggregate, anonymous stats — like how many searches happen, which games get saved, and which searches found nothing — so we can make Scout better. These are tied to the anonymous cookie ID, not to you personally, and we don't use them to identify you.
AI
To understand your taste and write the picks, the games you type are sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) to generate recommendations. We don't use your data to train models.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run Scout: our email provider (Resend) and our AI provider (OpenRouter). Game data and links come from Steam. We don't sell your data to anyone.
Your choices
Clear your browser cookies and your anonymous session is gone. Want your email or saved data removed? Email [email protected] and we'll wipe it.
